Make Your Own Candle
This Friday (11/11), join us at HackPittsburgh and *make your own candle*! Come one, come all, and festivize your Thanksgiving Day turkey (or tofurkey) table! HackPittsburgh members Doug Philips and Mandy Stultz will walk you through the process.
We’ll be using all-natural soy wax for low-soot burning, super-easy process and virtually foolproof results (yep, it’s microwaveable). HackPittsburgh will provide the wax and wick, votive cups, fragrance and color, and some fun things to decorate with. If you’d like to bring your own glassware for ultimate personalization, please do! We only ask that you keep your vessel about golf ball / shot glass size so we have enough wax for everyone and it will work with the wick we’re providing.
Young makers are always encouraged to attend, however molten wax is *HOT* (and so are flames), so parent / guardian assistance is a must. We’d also like to take this opportunity to remind you that candles should never be burned unattended, and once you take your candle home, it’s your responsibility to enjoy it with the utmost safety.
As always, HackPittsburgh Friday Nights are free and open to the public. Doors are at 7pm, and the event will start shortly afterward. Hope to see you there!
