July 2, 2019, 6pm – 8pm: Circuit Design for Arduinos with Dr. Newcomer: Session ONE

Basic Info: A continuation of skills from the Intro to Arduinos class. Session ONE of a three-session class.

Description: Great, you know how to make an Arduino microcontroller do stuff in the Intro class… now you need to make things for the Arduino to control! Never fear, Dr. Newcomer is teaching a class on circuit design. Take the computer skills you learned in the previous class and expand them to the physical world of LED’s, resistors, and other similar items. Again, 18+ only please, and bring your own laptop to program**. We provide other parts and tools.

Session One: Basic Circuits.

** Don’t have a laptop? We can work something out, but you MUST contact us at info at hackpittsburgh.org ahead of time so that we can plan ahead!

Prerequisites: Dr. Newcomer’s Intro to Arduino Programming class, or similar experience.

The fee is $25, members get 10% off. You don’t get to keep the Arduino Uno, but we have plenty of extras, or feel free to bring your own if you have one. We also have them for sale for $10, which is totally a better deal than the TI-83 you had to buy for high school, and the Arduino is almost as powerful.

YOU MUST REGISTER HERE TO SECURE YOUR SPOT! https://members.hackpgh.org/event-3439078

You can use an Arduino or any other microcontroller of your choice, but you should also bring a cable to connect you micro to your laptop.

I will assume that you have taken my intro course or have learned how to write and download programs. This course focuses on what you connect to those GPIO pins.

This course also applies if you program in Python, JavaScript, or even MakeCode. If you have a favorite language, feel free to use it.
