Thursday, January 16th: Rube Goldberg Machine

Join HackPittsburgh on Thursday, January 16th for our inaugural Rube Goldberg build challenge. We will break into small teams to each design and build and element of a Rube Goldberg machine using materials from around our shop. Each team will consist of at least one HackPittsburgh member, who will help you design and build your piece of the contraption, all you need is an idea!

After everyone has had a chance to build and test their piece of the machine, we will put everything together and start the action, planning for the first try at 8:30.

Free and open to the public! Doors open at 7:00pm, we will break into teams at 7:30, and will try our first run of the machine at 8:30. We’re located at 1936 5th Avenue, in the garage around back on Watson. Look for our flag above the door.

Do I need to be a member to participate in the Rube Goldberg Machine today? Or is it open to the public?

This is a public event, so come on down!

Thanks for asking, I’ve updated to post to make that clear.

Did you guys finish the Rube Goldberg? I had to leave before the end. It was a lot of fun.

We did, the final run happened at right around 11:30. We’re working on getting the video processed and we’ll post that up as soon as it’s ready.

I’m happy to hear you had a good time, I hope we’ll see you at future events!
