Open Source and the Law
Have you ever wondered how the law treats open source software? If you are a software developer, an open source software enthusiast, or generally interested in high-tech law, you won’t want to miss this event! On Friday, December 7th, Megan Costello, J.D., will talk about open source software from a legal perspective. Unlike traditional legal talks, Megan’s presentation promises to be engaging and technologist-friendly in a fun and relaxed environment. She will address some of the major legal issues that technologists should know about open source software.

Some background info about Megan:
Megan Costello, J.D., is a recent graduate of the University of New Hampshire School of Law where she received her Juris Doctorate in Intellectual Property and Cybersecurity Law. High-tech law is Megan’s passion. As a technologist with undergraduate expertise in computers, technology and cybersecurity, it is her goal to help other technologists understand the law and to make confusing, legal topics more accessible to those who need help. She specializes in high-tech legal issues, especially in intellectual property, privacy, and cybersecurity. Megan currently works at Elliott & Davis, PC, where she serves as a team member of its cyberlaw and social enterprise practices. Her blog, Pittsburgh Cyberlaw, discusses a number of legal topics related to technology, startups, and intellectual property.
