Build Your Own Personal Flame Cannon

Learn the theory and practice of building a propane-based flame cannon. This class will be taught in two parts. On the first class date (4/18/2010 10am), you will learn you what you need to know about working with propane and propane cannons, both manually- and electronically-fired. On the second class date (4/25/2010 5pm), you will work hands-on in teams to create a basic cannon and participate in testing of an electronically-fired cannon.
Our motivation in offering this class is to help foster a larger fire arts community in Pittsburgh. At the end of the class, you will have the knowledge to create your own propane-based projects.
This Class is being taught by Eric Singer co-founder of the Madagascar Institute and LEMUR.
Tickets are on sale now.

    Hello,

This is an interesting Fire Cannon workshop. I was wondering, do the construction of these cannons follow the National Fire Prevention Association regulations for the values and other parts?

    Thanks,
    Dave

    Hi Dave,

I asked Eric, and here his what he has to say about it:

“As there are no uniform guidelines on fire art as such, I follow best practices and general safety guidelines where available, based on years of experience and discussions with other knowledgeable people working in this area. It is also my experience that what is acceptable and will pass inspection varies widely between jurisdictions and individual inspectors.

I will outline safety guidelines and hazards as part of the class.”

    Cheers,
    Matt
